Title
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARGATE, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE AWARD OF BID NO. 2020-006 - PROFESSIONAL DESIGN CRITERIA DEVELOPMENT SERVICES FOR THE BUILDING, DEES AND DEVELOPMENT SERVICES DEPARTMENTS ADMINISTRATION BUILDING TO WALTERS ZACKRIA ASSOCIATES, PLLC; PROVIDING FOR TOTAL AWARDED PROJECT COSTS NOT TO EXCEED $254,540, WHICH INCLUDES A $5,000 REIMBURSABLE ALLOWANCE; PROVIDING FOR EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Margate (City) is constructing a new building and renovating the existing 901 Administration Building located at 901 NW 66th Avenue, Margate, FL 33063. The proposed project entails the construction of a new building and allows for the expansion of existing office space. The new building will house the Building Department and be located adjacent to and north of the existing 901 Building. This project will improve department functions, customer service and allow for future expansion, providing services all from one central location. Staff has reviewed and finalized negotiations with Walters Zackria Associates to provide professional design criteria services for this project. When complete, the design criteria package will provide the City with construction documents approximately 30% complete for the City to then seek the services of a design/build firm for the final design and construction of the proposed project.
RECOMMENDATION:
After careful review, evaluation and negotiation, Staff recommends awarding the project to Walters Zackria Associates. Staff is requesting that the City Commission award the project to Walters Zackria Architects and authorize the Mayor and City Manager to execute an agreement for the project within the parameters stipulated in the title.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Not to exceed $254,540 which includes a $5,000 reimbursable allowance.
Building Department account 334-6537-524.65-80
At this time, there is no backup documentation to allocate a financial portion of this project to DEES or
Development Services. All costs will be paid for from the Building Capital Projects account and
expenditures for the improvements directly related to DEES and Development Services will then be
reimbursed to this account from the respective department.
