Title

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARGATE, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL AND ENGINEERING SERVICES (DEES) TO ESTABLISH AND FILL THREE (3) INTERNSHIP POSITIONS, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE

Body

BACKGROUND:                                           The Department of Environmental and Engineering Services (DEES) is committed to fostering workforce development, promoting career exposure, and supporting succession planning within the City of Margate’s water and wastewater utility services.

DEES seeks to establish three (3) internship positions to provide students who are matriculating toward a college degree and who have expressed and exhibited an interest in water utilities with meaningful hands-on experience in treatment plants operations, engineering, construction, utility administration, and related customer services.

The two Utility Operations and Maintenance (O&M) internships will provide hands-on exposure to municipal water and wastewater systems, including operations modernization, instrumentation and treatment process optimization through active participation in capital improvement and pilot projects.

The Public Relations internship will assist in the development of public outreach materials, website content, and communication strategies that inform and engage residents about key initiatives such as new drinking water regulations, regulatory compliance, the Utilities Bond Program, and infrastructure construction projects.

All three internship positions will enhance the City's ability to attract future talent, promote public service careers, and support ongoing infrastructure and public communication initiatives.
