Body

BACKGROUND: PHASE II OF THE CODE UPDATE PROJECT:

The City of Margate has contracted services with Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc. (CGA) for a code update.  The focus of this project is to update the City’s land development regulations and zoning code.  The project is split into phases.  This ordinance represents phase II of the project and consists of edits to the following code areas:

Amending Chapter 40 - “Land Development Code”

Repealing Chapter 23 - “Landscaping”

Repealing Appendix A  - “Zoning”

Repealing Appendix C - “Land Development Code”

Phase I was approved on 07/05/2023. This document combines what was previously approved into one complete Chapter 40 - “Unified Land Development Code”.

The Development Services Department (DSD) is overseeing this project and coordinating reviews with the Department of Environmental and Engineering Services (DEES), Building and Code Services Department, Public Works Department, parks and Recreation Department, City Attorney’s Office, Police Department and Fire Department.

On October 17, 2023, the Planning and Zoning Board recommended approval of the ordinance with a recommendation that the City Commission provide a grant program for property owners that would be required to install a white PVC fence along rear and side property lines that face a street when they install a new fence.
