Title
AUTHORIZING THE ADDITION OF THE POSITION OF ACCOUNT CLERK I FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BACKGROUND: The Public Works Department is currently staffed with an Office Manager and an Office Specialist II position. The Office Specialist II position is funded by and intended for Storm Water Utilities. The Office Manager duties include, but are not limited to, reporting and record keeping for projects, and oversight of payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, and agenda items.
The Public Works Department is in need of the Account Clerk I position to provide for general accounting functions for Public Works daily operations and projects. This additional position will relieve the Office Manager from basic accounting duties so that she can assume more of the intended oversight role.
RECOMMENDATION: For approval.
FISCAL IMPACT: $51,177 in salary. The addition of the position and funding will be approved with the FY 2018 budget amendment that will occur in November.
