APPROVE AND ACCEPT THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MARGATE AND BROWARD COUNTY FOR BROWARD COUNTY TO PROVIDE STAFF SERVICES IN CONNECTION WITH HEARINGS BEFORE THE UNSAFE STRUCTURES BOARD
BACKGROUND: The City of Margate entered into an agreement five years ago with Broward County to allow the City of Margate’s Building and Code Services to utilize the Broward County Unsafe Structures Board. The Interlocal Agreement allows the City to efficiently bring cases before the board without having to manage our own board, avoiding delays caused by not having a quorum and utilize the expert judgment from people experienced in hearing unsafe structure cases. The approval of the First Amendment will extend the Interlocal Agreement until 2029, and provide for an adjustment in fees charged by Broward County for the services provided.
RECOMMENDATION: City Staff recommends approval.
FISCAL IMPACT: Current administrative costs are approximately $500.00 for each unsafe structures case.
