Body

BACKGROUND:

The City currently contracts with Limousines of South Florida, Inc. (LSF) for public transportation services necessary to operate the Margate Inner-City Transit local bus service; which is a partnership governed by an inner-local agreement (ILA) between the City and Broward County Transit (BCT) that expires September 30, 2019.  The City’s agreement with LSF also expires on September 30, 2019.  Staff’s plans to issue a request for proposals (RFP) for the operations of the transportation services has been delayed pending BCT updating and providing a new ILA to the City for consideration.

Approval of the requested contract extension will allow for the continuation of Margate Inner-City Transit services while details of the ILA and subsequently the City’s new RFP for bus service operations are finalized.

RECOMMENDATION:  Approve the contract extension

FISCAL IMPACT:  No change of the current $42.00 per service hour cost for the approximately 7,300 annual services hours (+/- $350,000 per year).
