PROPOSED COST ESTIMATES FOR THE MARGATE BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT

BACKGROUND: On February 16, 2023, Chen Moore and Associates, Inc. (CMA) presented the Board with several design options as part of the development of additional design considerations under approved Task Order No. 2. In order to address constructability and understand the value of CMA's preferred improvements to the corridor, the Board requested comparable construction costs. This would allow for a better understanding of the impact CMA's design preferences may have on the overall construction cost.

On August 17, 2022, the Board authorized the approval of Margate Blvd Improvements Project Task Order No. 2 to CMA for additional civil engineering, landscaping, and construction administration services. The additional services include the engineering design for improvements, such as, additional demolition and construction of sidewalks, considerations for the type of delineation for parallel parking, and adjustments to landscaping preferences along the right of way of Margate Blvd from SR7/US 441 to East River Drive and portions of NW 58th Avenue from Park Dr. to approximately the alleyway north of the Margate Blvd roundabout.

Proposed improvements under the original approved Task Order No. 1 included, but was not limited to: providing professional civil engineering, planning and landscape architecture services for the design (including improvements designed to address sidewalk and crosswalk issues and to meet current ADA standards, as well as to address inconsistent landscape designs and plantings); permitting; and construction administration services necessary for completion of the project.
