BACKGROUND:

The Fire Department intends to utilize the City’s Fire Impact Fees to complete several capital improvement projects at the fire stations. These include remodeling the kitchen, installing a hurricane impact-rated front door, and enhancing security through the installation of a camera system and card readers. For consistency, Llorens Contracting, LLC, which previously completed the remodel at Fire Station 98 will be used for the kitchen renovation. The hood system quote reflects a reduced cost compared to the previous estimate from 2023. The kitchen quote is considered a service with labor costs greater than the material cost. For security enhancements, CSI Video Security and Security 101, both preferred vendors of the City’s IT Department and current providers of the City’s video and door security and maintenance services, will perform the work.  A waiver of the formal solicitation bidding process and authorization to utilize the quotes/proposals provided with this agenda item is requested for the above stated reasons.  Fire Impact Fees collected from new development are designated specifically for capital improvements that support fire protection infrastructure and equipment.
