BACKGROUND: State law requires local water utilities to adopt and periodically update a 10-year water facilities work plan. This ordinance is adopting an update to Margate's 10-year water facilities work plan in the Comprehensive Plan.
On April 15, 2024, the City of Margate transmitted this amendment to the Florida Department of Commerce and all other required review agencies.
On May 16, 2024, the Florida Department of Commerce issued a review letter on the proposed amendment. This letter identified comments from the South Florida Water Management District. DEES staff has revised the Water Supply Facility Work Plan based on those comments. Updates include:
* City Logo
* Reference to the South Florida Water Management District permit 06-00121-W, which was renewed September 2, 2020.
* Revised verbiage from 'Broward Water Partnership Conservation Program' to 'Broward Community Water Conservation and Incentives Program'
* Added current data for the City's toilet rebate program and Naturescape Irrigation Service
* Revised landscape code sections and requirements
* Revised verbiage from Xeriscape Landscaping to Florida Friendly Landscaping
* Status of C-51 Project
* Revised verbiage of Objective 1.2 to eliminate reference to a water reuse system
