Body

BACKGROUND:                     The Department of Environmental and Engineering Services (DEES) is responsible for producing and treating the City’s potable water. The Water Treatment Plant requires a reliable, high-performing dry polymer, certified under NSF/ANSI/CAN Standard 60, to support coagulation, flocculation, and clarification in the lime-softening treatment process. The City’s previous polymer supply contract has expired.

During the week of August 4, 2026, Polydyne Inc. conducted plant-specific bench-scale testing at the Water Treatment Plant using raw water samples and evaluated five dry polymer products. CLARIFLOC A-3333P was the top-performing product, providing good solids settling and clear supernatant compared with the untreated sample.

CLARIFLOC A-3333P is certified under NSF/ANSI/CAN Standard 60 for drinking-water coagulation and flocculation and complies with the requirements of 40 C.F.R. § 141.111. Based on its certification and demonstrated plant-specific performance, DEES recommends CLARIFLOC A-3333P for use at the City’s Water Treatment Plant.
