Title

AUTHORIZING THE APPROVAL OF TASK ORDER NO. 1 WITH KEITH AND ASSOCIATE , INC. FOR THE DESIGN, PERMITTING AND CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION FOR THE MEDIAN ENHANCEMENTS PROJECT

Body

BACKGROUND:                                          The MCRA has identified several medians within its boundaries that will benefit with beautification.   A Task Order with the KEITH Engineering firm is proposed for the design, permitting and construction administration for these improvements.

The medians are located on Southgate Boulevard just east of Rock Island Road (3 medians), US 441 between SW 8th Court and the C-14 Canal (7 medians), SW 6th Street just east of US 441 (2 medians), NW 29th Street east of US 441 (2 medians), and SW 9th Drive (aka SW 11st Street) east  of US 441 (1 median).   An updated survey will be prepared for each of the 15 medians, followed by designs for new landscaping, with irrigation systems to be adjusted as needed.  The curbs on several of these medians have deteriorated and will be replaced as part of the project scope.  The pavement striping will also be updated around these medians.  Finally, electrical service for future neighborhood entry signs will be designed for the medians on SW 9th Drive, SW 6th Street and NW 29th Street.

RECOMMENDATION:                     For review and approval

FISCAL IMPACT:                     Not to exceed $244,586.00.   This project is being funded under the approved CIP Projects - Median Improvements budget line of the Capital Improvements Fund; account number 340.0510.565010.
