AGAMI BRIDGE”, AS APPROVED IN FLORIDA HOUSE BILL 987 APPROVED BY THE GOVERNOR ON JUNE 13, 2025, AND ENROLLED AS PART OF CHAPTER NO. 2025-214 ON JULY 8, 2025; PROVIDING FOR STREET SIGNS OR MARKERS TO BE PLACED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE

BACKGROUND:                                           Highly decorated Army Specialist Daniel J. Agami of Coconut Creek, Florida, was killed in action on June 21, 2007, at the age of 25 from injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Adhamiyah, Iraq. SPC Agami began his education at the Hebrew Academy Community School in Margate, Florida.

 

Florida House Bill 987 approved by the Governor on June 13, 2025, and enrolled as part of Chapter 2025-14 on July 8, 2025, provided for the designation of the bridge on State Road 7 over Sample to be designated as “SPC Daniel J. Agami Bridge. This Resolution will not only provide authority for DOT to install suitable signs or markers with the City for the bridge designation but provide an opportunity for the City Commission to support SPC Agami’s family in remembering him and honoring his service to our country.

 

RECOMMENDATION:                     For approval.
