APPROVAL OF A TEMPORARY USE AGREEMENT FOR USE OF MCRA PROPERTY LOCATED AT 5701 MARGATE BOULEVARD TO HOLD A JESUS TENT REVIVAL

BACKGROUND: United Pentecostal Church of Cooper City, Inc./The Pentecostals of Coral Springs submitted a Special Events Application for use of MCRA owned property located at 5701 Margate Boulevard (NW Corner of Margate Boulevard and State Road 7) for a Jesus Tent Revival. The applicant is requesting use of the property from February 15 to 19, 2024 (5 days).
The Pentecostals of Coral Springs is requesting use of the property as follows:
* Thursday, February 15 (1 day set up)
* Friday and Saturday, February 16 and 17, from 6 pm to 10 pm and Sunday, February 18 from 9 am to 2 pm (3 days of operation)
* Monday, February 19 (1 day take down)
The MCRA Event Policy states that the use of the MCRA property shall be restricted to sponsors who have a business, non-profit organization, or religious institution in the City of Margate.
The applicant estimates approximately 300 to 400 people will be in attendance per their letter which is attached. There will be no sales of food or drink anticipated, only distribution of free bottles of water for participants.
The description of the event provided by the applicant states the event is designed to encourage, connect and unify the local community. They intend to have live music and inspirational speaking under an open-air tent with an audio/visual system.
The prorated rental fee shall be $1,482.60 ($2,000/7 = $285.72 per day x 5 days = $1,482.60). The sponsor is not requesting a waiver of the fee nor use of the stage.
If the MCRA Board wishes to grant use of the property, the applicant will need to apply to the Development Services Department (DSD) for a Temporary Use Permit.
