RESOLUTION - APPROVING THE PARTIAL FUNDING OF THE NATIONAL NIGHT OUT EVENT TO BE HELD AUGUST 6, 2024, TO PROMOTE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IN CRIME PREVENTION AND POLICE-COMMUNITY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIRIT AND POLICE COMMUNITY RELATIONS, AND TO ENCOURAGE NEIGHBORHOOD CAMARADERIE AS PART OF THE FIGHT FOR SAFER STREETS; APPROVING WAIVING OF BIDDING FOR POLICE AWARENESS PROMOTIONAL ITEMS & SERVICES; PROVIDING FOR FUNDING NOT TO EXCEED $50,000 FROM THE STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND; PROVIDING FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDING FROM GENERAL FUND AND DONATIONS
BACKGROUND:
National Night Out Against Crime (NNO) will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, and has been extraordinarily successful in promoting involvement in crime and drug prevention activities and awareness, strengthening safe neighborhood spirit and police-community relations and encouraging neighborhood camaraderie as a part of the fight for safer streets. On August 6th, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the City of Margate in a collaborative effort will be celebrating its 22nd Annual National Night Out, which will enhance community relations with businesses and citizens alike.
RECOMMENDATION: Approval
FISCAL IMPACT: Not to exceed $50,000 - Funded through the State Law Enforcement Trust Fund.
Balance to be paid from budgeted General Funds and donations.
