Title

TERMINATE NEGOTIATIONS WITH NIDY SPORTS CONSTRUCTION FOR THE ARTIFICIAL TURF FIELD CONVERSION AND TABLE THE ENTIRE PROJECT AT THIS TIME

Body

BACKGROUND:                                          The MCRA issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) No. 2026-01 on November 7, 2025, seeking Design/Build Services for the Artificial Turf Conversion at the Margate Sports Complex.

On February 11, 2026, the Board approved Resolution No. 772, authorizing the Executive Director and his committee to negotiate an agreement with the highest-ranked firm, Nidy Sports Corporation, LLC, for the conversion of the sports fields at the Margate Sports Complex to Artificial Turf.   Three negotiation meetings took place with Nidy Sports Construction on March 3, April 22, and May 14, 2026 respectively.

The first proposal submitted by Nidy was in excess of $4.7M - a cost far greater than anticipated.  After several requests for reductions and changes, the last proposal submitted on September 21 was just over $4.1M.    At this time Staff are recommending terminating negotiations and tabling the project.

RECOMMENDATION:                     To terminate negotiations and remove the project from the MCRA budget.

FISCAL IMPACT:                     N/A
