Title

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARGATE, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE WAIVER OF BIDDING REQUIREMENT FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF A STEEL GARAGE-STYLE BUILDING TO BE USED AS A MAINTENANCE SHED AT THE COST OF $33,437.86; RECOGNIZING SUPERIOR SHEDS’ ABILITY TO FULFILL THE CITY'S NEEDS FOR DURABILITY AGAINST WEATHER CONDITIONS AND COST-EFFECTIVENESS

Body

BACKGROUND:                                          The DEES Utilities Division is committed to the upkeep of City facilities and equipment. The current storage facility, a Quonset Hut at the Water Treatment Plant, is in poor condition due to corrosion and leaks. DEES acknowledges the need for a new structure and is preparing a design-build solicitation package. Given the time required to design a new building and the current building's condition, there's an immediate need for a temporary storage solution for mechanical parts and equipment to ensure continuous City operations.

DEES has decided that a steel garage-style building, measuring 20 feet by 40 feet and 9 feet in height, with two bay doors and windows, will serve as a suitable storage solution for mechanical parts and equipment. Superior Sheds has been identified as a provider whose models are tested to withstand Florida’s inclement weather, and the company works closely with local governments to ensure proper permits and licensing.

DEES obtained a quote of $33,437.86 for the shed, including two essential bay doors. A second quote was $29,345.00 but lacked the bay doors. Efforts to secure a third quote from vendors like Armstrong Steel and US Patriot Steel were unsuccessful due to a lack of interest and response.
