RESOLUTION - APPROVING AN AGREEMENT FOR PARTIAL FUNDING OF TWO (2) SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER IN MARGATE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL & MARGATE MIDDLE SCHOOL (SUMMER SCHOOL SESSION) FOR JUNE 20, 2023 THROUGH JULY 27, 2023; PROVIDING FOR EFFECTIVE DATE.

BACKGROUND: The City of Margate has provided for partial funding and placement of a School Resource Officer (SRO) in Margate public schools since 1987. This Agreement provides for placement and partial funding of two SROs, for “Summer school hours” during the summer of 2023. This year’s Agreement maintains the provision, of compliance with the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act (hereinafter “Act”).
RECOMMENDATION: Approval
FISCAL IMPACT: This Agreement provides for the School Board of Broward County to pay the City $22,660 for partial funding of two School Resource Officers, or $11,330.00 each School Resource Officer. This is $2,150 per officer more than last summer (2022 - See ID # 2022-232 5/18/22).
