Title
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARGATE, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION’S FINAL 2050 METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION PLAN; PROVIDING FOR EFFECTIVE DATE
Body
BACKGROUND:
Three (3) projects have been approved for the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) draft Route to 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) Cost Feasible Plan. The MTP is the guiding document for funding transportation improvements in the County.
The MTP filtered and prioritized projects from the needs assessment process into the draft cost feasible plan. This process began with a pool of projects sourced from a Call for Projects with local partners (the City) and an internal network assessment focusing on improving operations, expanding travel options, building a resilient network, preparing for future technologies, and enhancing safety for all users.
In order for these projects to remain in the final Cost Feasible Plan the MPO requires a resolution of support from the City. The projects are:
1. Royal Palm Blvd from State Road 7 to east of Rock Island Rd
Ø Add right turn lane to southbound State Road 7, extend existing left turn lanes from eastbound Royal Palm, add shared use paths to Royal Palm from west of State Road 7 to
east of Rock Island Rd. Reconstruct or modify bridge to accommodate share use paths.
2. Banks Rd from Atlantic Blvd to Sample Rd
Ø Add turn lanes so that each signalized intersection within scope has two left turn lanes and a right turn lane for each direction. Signalize intersection of Sample Rd and Banks Rd.
3. Intersection of Atlantic Blvd and Rock Island Rd
Ø Provide dedicated right turn lanes from all approaches and extend existing dual left turn lanes
RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution
FISCAL IMPACT: None
