Title
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARGATE, FLORIDA, APPROVING PRECAST WALL SYSTEMS, INC. AS THE SOLE-SOURCE DESIGNER, MANUFACTURER, DISTRIBUTOR, AND INSTALLER OF THE COMPANY’S PROPRIETARY PRECAST WALL SYSTEMS CURRENTLY INSTALLED AT MULTIPLE CITY LOCATIONS; AUTHORIZING WAIVING OF BIDDING FOR FUTURE SOLE-SOURCE REPAIRS, MODIFICATIONS, AND ADDITIONS TO EXISTING CITY WALLS UNTIL SOLE-SOURCE STATUS RECONSIDERATION BY THE COMMISSION UNDER THE NEXT PERIODIC BLANKET SOLE-SOURCE PROVIDERS LIST; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BACKGROUND:
The City has several locations with proprietary concrete precast wall systems designed, engineered, manufactured, and erected by Precast Wall Systems, Inc. These walls require periodic repairs, modifications, and additions. Precast Wall Systems, Inc., is the sole provider of all these services.
In the past, staff unsuccessfully attempted to identify alternate sources for repairs, modifications, and/or additions to existing Precast Wall Systems, Inc. wall installations. No other firms were found to be willing to take on the necessary services without additional cost prohibitive design, engineering, and other necessary services that in addition to that expense could also potentially result in a project that exposes the City to additional liability in the event of structural failure.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve sole-source determination
FISCAL IMPACT: $50,775 is estimated for currently necessary wall repairs.
Various City accounts will be utilized for services depending on wall location.
