RESOLUTION - APPROVING AND ACCEPTING AN AGREEMENT AND FUNDING FROM THE OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, BUREAU OF ADVOCACY AND GRANTS MANAGEMENT, VICTIMS OF CRIME ACT (VOCA) GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $51,530.00 FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 2024, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2025, TO FUND THE CITY OF MARGATE POLICE DEPARTMENT’S FULL-TIME VICTIM ADVOCATE POSITION; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
BACKGROUND:
Each year the State of Florida through the Office of the Attorney General, Bureau Advocacy and Grants Management, provides an assistance grant program for the purpose of providing funding to local community providers to appropriately and effectively respond to the emotional and physical needs of crime victims, assisting victims in stabilizing their lives after their victimization, helping victims to understand and patriate in the criminal justice system, and providing victims with a measure of safety and security. The Margate Police Department utilizes this grant to fund the full-time Victim Advocate Position.
