RESOLUTION - APPROVING FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE SHIP LOCAL HOUSING ASSISTANCE PLAN (LHAP) FOR ALLOCATION OF FUNDS RECEIVED FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA UNDER THE STATE HOUSING INITIATIVES PARTNERSHIP (SHIP) PROGRAM, FOR FISCAL YEARS 2025-2026, 2026-2027, AND 2027-2028; PROVIDING FOR INCLUSION OF A MANUFACTURED HOUSING STRATEGY; PROVIDING FOR EFFECTIVE DATE
BACKGROUND: The State Housing Initiatives Partnership program (SHIP), serves low- and moderate-income families. Its primary purpose is to make housing affordable. Florida Housing Finance Corporation administers the program in Florida and allocates grants to 67 counties and 52 Community Development Block Grant entitlement cities in the state. Local governments use these funds to create programs that reduce housing costs, keep rent prices low, and assist people with home purchases and repairs.
This amendment includes the new manufactured housing strategy as required by Section 723.003 of Florida Statutes.
The maximum award for this strategy is $10,000 in relocation assistance, $5,000 for lot rental assistance, and $15,000 for rehab/emergency repairs.
RECOMMENDATION: For Approval
FISCAL IMPACT: No direct cost to the City. All program costs to be paid from SHIP funds.
