Title

PROPOSALS FOR HOLIDAY LIGHTING ALONG MARGATE BOULEVARD

Body

BACKGROUND: On behalf of the MCRA, Nick Cucunato, Public Works, solicited proposals from three vendors for holiday lighting of the palm trees and live oak trees along Margate Boulevard, as well as lighting and decoration options for the clock tower and surrounding circle. Proposals were received from the following vendors:

-                     Holiday Lighting Designs: $34,770

-                     Brandano Displays: $36,689 - $40,598 (based on various options)

-                     Christmas Designers: $37,772

-

The above proposals do not include a Christmas tree for City Hall.

The holiday lighting was provided by Christmas Designers last season.  Lighting installation would begin upon approval and all lighting would be disconnected the first week of January.  All visual decorations would be installed no later than December 1st and removed no later than January 15th.

The Redevelopment Plan authorizes holiday lighting under Part 2 Current Trends and Planned Activities / Community Engagement and Marketing (page 18): “The CRA will continue to invest strategically in community events, business assistance workshops, marketing campaigns, and public relations activities…”

RECOMMENDATION:  For Board review.  Mr. Cucunato was very pleased with the product and service provided by Christmas Designers last year and he recommends working with them for the 2019 season.

FISCAL IMPACT:  $37,772 contingent upon approval of the proposed budget for FY 2019-2020; plus an additional cost of $2,500 for a 20-foot Christmas tree that would be provided by Brandano Displays if approved.
