Title
APPROVING A WAIVER OF BIDDING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SOLE SOURCE EQUIPMENT PURCHASE, RENTAL, PARTS, REPAIR, AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT FROM ALTA EQUIPMENT COMPANY FOR THE REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF THE CITY FRONT LOADER VOLVO MODEL L70H; AUTHORIZING AN EXPENDITURE IN THE AMOUNT OF $28,485.65; PROVIDING FOR ONGOING PURCHASE SO LONG AS THE VENDOR REMAINS THE SOLE SOURCE FOR THE ITEM SPECIFIED; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BACKGROUND: The Department of Environmental and Engineering Services (DEES) operates a Volvo front loader model L70H, which is utilized for the maintenance of the lime sludge pond at the city's water treatment plant;
The said equipment recently experienced complications due to water and sediment contamination in the fuel pump, along with sediment in the bottom of the tank upon draining, leading to the subsequent impact on the equipment's fuel system;
Following an assessment by the official dealer, it was recommended to replace the fuel pump and all its associated connections to ensure the proper functionality and longevity of the Volvo front loader;
Due to the specialized nature of the repair, ALTA Construction Equipment has been identified as the sole source provider capable of delivering the necessary services and repairs in a timely and efficient manner;
RECOMMENDATION: Approve a waiver of bidding requirements for the sole source purchase, repair and maintenance services of the construction equipment and approving a proposal from Alta Equipment Company for the amount of $28,485.65 for the repair of DEES Volvo front loader model L70H.
