Title

A RESOLUTION OF THE MARGATE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY (‘MCRA’) APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 TO THE CONSTRUCTION AGREEMENT WITH MBR CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR THE SOUTHGATE BOULEVARD MEDIAN IMPROVEMENT PROJECT IN THE AMOUNT OF $68,837.63 AND INCREASING THE PROJECT COMPLETION CONTRACT TIME BY 60 DAYS; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO EXECUTE THE CHANGE ORDER

Body

BACKGROUND:                     As part of the Southgate Median beautification project, the MCRA has installed new landscaping and irrigation within two medians on SW 2nd Court.   While this has enhanced the overall appearance of this area, the adjacent roadway pavement is in marginal condition, with low areas, extensive cracking, and shallow potholes.   Rather than correcting these deficiencies with piecemeal patchwork, a complete milling, resurfacing, and restriping of the roadway will provide the most benefit in combination with the newly landscaped medians.  The area to be repaved includes approximately 335 feet of SW 2nd Court between US 441 and SE 56th Terrace.

Additionally, the contract time would be extended by an additional 60 days, making the new date of substantial completion, June 14, 2025.

RECOMMENDATION:                     Board approval of the change order

FISCAL IMPACT:                     This change order is not to exceed $68,837.63.  Sufficient funding remains available in account #340-0510-512.69-21 (Southgate/SR-7 Median Improvements)
