A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARGATE, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A STAFFING LEVEL GOAL OF THREE FIRE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL ON A FIRE ENGINE AND THREE FIRE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL ON A FIRE RESCUE VEHICLE, UTILIZING EXISTING FUND REVENUE, FUND BALANCE, AND GRANTS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2024; PROVIDING FOR BUDGET AMENDMENT; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE

BACKGROUND:                     The City Commission of the City of Margate, Florida, hereby approves the implementation of a staffing level goal of three Fire Department personnel on a fire engine and three Fire Department personnel on a fire rescue vehicle, utilizing existing fund revenue, fund balance, and grant funds for the current fiscal year, with the funding to be provided for during the budget amendment process.  The Administration is directed to take all steps necessary to implement the intent of this Resolution, including but not limited to, providing for these positions as part of collective bargaining negotiations and seeking out and utilizing available funding sources to fund the additional positions in subsequent fiscal years.

FISCAL IMPACT:                     $133,292 per firefighter paramedic; with an additional cost of $6,000 per class to assist in training.
