APPROVING WAIVING OF BIDDING FOR THE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE OF SEVEN (7) VIDEO LARGYNGOSCOPES FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT FROM INTUBRITE, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $13,649.30.
BACKGROUND: The Fire Department has been awarded a County grant for the purchase of a video laryngoscope system to be supplied on all rescue trucks. Attached is a quote from Intubrite in the amount of $13,649.30. Intubrite is the original manufacturer and sole vendor of the IntuBrite hypervisualization system (please refer to the attached sole source letter). Currently the Fire Department uses an Intubrite non-video laryngoscope system. The ability to use their laryngoscope blades on the video system allows us to have more flexibility and interchangeability with the equipment. Our medics have evaluated the Intubrite Video Laryngoscope system and they were impressed with its use. We would purchase 7 units with this grant, allowing all our rescue units the ability to have this piece of life-saving equipment.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve.
FISCAL IMPACT: None. Entire cost is covered by the County grant. Per the Budget Ordinance, the 2016 budget will be automatically amended for the purchase of the equipment that was approved under Resolution 16-198.
