Title
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARGATE, FLORIDA, APPROVING WITH CONDITIONS A TEMPORARY USE PERMIT FOR HILDEBRAND AMUSEMENT RIDES, INC., FOR PERMISSION TO HOLD ‘THE FAIR AT MARGATE’ AT 1000 NORTH STATE ROAD 7, FROM NOVEMBER 21, 2025 THROUGH DECEMBER 7, 2025; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
BACKGROUND: Hildebrand Amusement Rides, Inc., is requesting approval of a Temporary Use Permit (TUP) for permission to hold ‘The Fair at Margate’ from November 21, 2025 through December 7, 2025. The main operation of the Fair will take place at 1000 North State Road 7 (former Swap Shop), and four other parcels will be used for parking.
Proposed schedule:
• November 10 through November 20, 2025 (11 days) for event setup
• November 21 through December 7 (17 days) for event operations
• December 8 through 15 (8 days) for event take-down
Proposed hours of operation:
• Monday through Thursday: 5:00 p.m. to midnight
• Friday: 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
• Saturdays: noon to 1:00 a.m.
• Sundays: noon to midnight
Event Description: To hold a Fair with family entertainment, rides, games, and other local events. The event will promote the City of Margate, Margate CRA, and will support local youth in the schools. There will be no alcohol.”
Estimated peak attendance is 5,000 attendees at a given time.
To address the issue of timely payments to the City for police and fire detail personnel, the applicant has offered to make a $100,000 deposit. Staff does recommend requiring this deposit be paid prior to the event opening. However, it should be noted that the cost of police and fire details in the past have been in the range of $150,000 -$165,000. Thus, the Commission should consider increasing the amount of the deposit.
