APPROVING CAPITAL PURCHASE PROVIDING FOR DISBURSEMENT OF FUNDS FROM THE ESTATE OF JOSEPH ROCCO.

BACKGROUND: The Center has $98,430.00 remaining from the initial disbursement, with approximately $17,200.00 committed for projects that were approved in December (building signs, Adult Day Care canopy and automatic door mechanisms). Due to a decline in grant funding, the Center has not been able to make many improvements to computer equipment in recent years. Microsoft has announced it will discontinue support to any equipment that does not have Windows 7 software beginning in April 2014. The Center has 12 essential stations that are currently operating with software ranging from Microsoft 2000 to XP. We are proposing the purchase of 12 computers with the updated Windows 7 technology for essential staff positions.
RECOMMENDATION: TO APPROVE
FISCAL IMPACT: Not to exceed $16,000.00 (per computer cost of $999.95 from Dell and $259.11 software cost from Softchoice).
