BACKGROUND: Each year, the Florida League of Cities recognizes elected municipal officials with 20 or more years of service. The award was recently named in honor of longtime Apopka Mayor, John Land, who served his city for more than 60 years. Commissioner Talerico was elected in March of 1994.
