AMENDMENTS TO GUIDELINES FOR THE COMMERCIAL PROPERTY FAÇADE IMPROVEMENT GRANT PROGRAM AND THE COMMERCIAL PROPERTY LANDSCAPING IMPROVEMENT GRANT PROGRAM

BACKGROUND:
In February of 2014 the CRA Board approved modifications to the Façade and Landscape Grant Program guidelines, in order to incorporate changes that had occurred in the procedures since the programs were created in 2000. The revisions also established a target area for the grants, so that funding could be concentrated to achieve a significant visual impact. The target area is identified as North SR 7 between Coconut Creek Parkway and Atlantic Blvd., and the Gateway intersections. In the past year the businesses that have expressed interest in the programs are located outside of those areas. Staff is recommending at this time that the programs be amended to again include all commercial properties in the CRA district. The proposed revisions also modify the funding limits in order to stay in line with the $150,000 budgeted for the program this year. The revisions also clarify procedures that will be followed in the application and reimbursement processes.
RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the proposed modifications to the Commercial Property Façade Grant Program and Commercial Property Landscaping Grant Program
