APPROVING WAIVING OF BIDDING FOR THE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE OF A PROMINENT CHEMICAL DOSING SKID SYSTEM FOR THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT (WTP), FROM TRINOVA INC., IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $10,846.34.

BACKGROUND: The Department of Environmental and Engineering Services (DEES) budgeted for replacement of the existing orthophosphate dosing pumps for the Water Treatment Plant. Attached is a quotation from TriNova, Inc., in the amount of $10,846.34. TriNova, Inc. is the sole source supplier in the State of Florida for ProMinent Fluid Controls, Inc., the manufacturer of the skid systems (please refer to the attached sole source letter). The City has a combined total of nine (9) dosing systems in the water and wastewater plants. To minimize stocking a large assortment of repair and replacement parts, and to standardize, staff has evaluated the ProMinent skid systems previously and has been replacing the dosing systems with the ProMinent skid units over the past several years. This skid system is the last of the nine (9) dosing systems to be replaced with the ProMinent unit. We have a good track record for these systems in terms of performance and their ease of maintenance.
Based on the above, staff is recommending that the Commission waive bidding and approve the sole source purchase of the ProMinent chemical dosing skid system from Tri-Nova, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $10,846.34. The freight charge has been estimated, and will be adjusted if required.
