APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH LANDSCAPE SERVICE PROFESSIONALS INC., FOR LANDSCAPE AND IRRIGATION MAINTENANCE SERVICES.

BACKGROUND: In March of 2014, the CRA entered into an agreement with The Landscape Company (TLC), to provide landscape maintenance services on CRA-owned properties and within various rights of way (Atlantic Avenue, 441/SR 7, Margate Blvd.). The contract term is for one year (expires March 20, 2015) with an option to renew for up to two 1-year periods.
Rather than renew TLC's agreement for another year it was decided it was in the best interest of the MCRA to consider alternative companies through the issuance of a Request For Proposal (RFP) process. The MCRA offered TLC a three (3) month extension of their current contract until the RFP process was complete but they declined.
In the interim, Landscape Service Professionals Inc., (currently contracted with the City of Margate) has agreed to continue to maintain the CRA owned properties and median areas on a month-to-month basis until a permanent contractor is hired. Staff anticipates this process to take approximately three (3) months.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve entering into an agreement with Landscape Service Professionals Inc., to provide temporary ongoing landscape and irrigation maintenance services on a month-to-month basis until such time as a permanent contractor is selected through an RFP process.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for landscape maintenance services is allocated in 140-0510-512.31-38.
