APPROVING AWARD OF BID NO. 2015-006 FOR ON-SITE SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE GENERATION (OSSHG) SYSTEM FOR THE DEES WATER TREATMENT PLANT TO ODYSSEY MANUFACTURING CO., IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $467,100.00.

BACKGROUND: Bid documents were prepared and the City advertised for bids for the water treatment plant OSSHG equipment replacement. Nine (9) potential bidders received copies of the bid package and one (1) bid was received from Odyssey Manufacturing Co.
The system was evaluated and budgeted for replacement in FY 2015. The existing system is no longer in service and was shut down due to prohibitively high costs associated with repairs and replacement parts. The sodium hypochlorite solution is used in the treatment process to disinfect water. Currently, the sodium hypochlorite solution is being supplied by an outside vendor, and the replacement of the OSSHG equipment will allow production of the solution on-site.
RECOMMENDATION: Award to Odyssey Manufacturing Co.
FISCAL IMPACT: Bid Amount: $467,100.00
FY 2015 Budget: $500,000.00
