REJECTING BID FROM LANDSCAPE SERVICE PROFESSIONALS, INC. FOR BID NO. 2015-012 OPEN SPACE 75, PHASE II IN THE AMOUNT OF $247,995.00 FOR BEING OVER BUDGET, APPROVING WAIVING OF BIDDING AND AUTHORIZING THE ADMINISTRATION TO OBTAIN AND AWARD COMPETITIVE QUOTES FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE MATERIALS AND LABOR NECESSARY TO COMPLETE PHASE II OF THE OPEN SPACE PROJECT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $50,000.00; PROVIDING FOR COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT PRIOR TO THE BROWARD COUNTY GRANT DEADLINE.

BACKGROUND: The above project has been bid twice; the first time as Bid No. 2014-017, and again as Bid No. 2015-012. There were no bid submittals received in response to the initial solicitation and only one response was received for the second solicitation which was over budget. This project is being funded through a Broward County grant. There is no time to rebid this project as the timeline for bidding would exceed the deadline for the grant. Based on the above staff is requesting that the Commission reject the over budget bid received from Landscape Professionals, Inc. in the amount of $247,995.00, waive bidding procedures and authorize the Administration to obtain and award competitive quotes to complete the project in amount not to exceed $50,000.00.
