Title

RESOLUTION OF THE MARGATE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, AMENDING THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN ART & SCULPTURE UNLIMITED AND THE MARGATE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY

Body

BACKGROUND:                     At the April 8th CRA meeting, the Board approved an agreement with Art & Sculpture Unlimited (ASU) to model, mold, and cast in bronze a sculpture of Kaye Stevens, including a bronze plaque and installation, to be placed in Kaye Stevens Park.  The agreement established a time frame of one hundred twenty (120) days to produce and install the statue.

At the CRA meeting of June 10th, staff provided on update on the production of the statue as well as two (2) scenarios for the design and installation of a pedestal.  The preferred option was to enhance the area of the park where the statue would be placed, adding a paver brick surround and sidewalks.  Since the project has become more involved than originally anticipated, staff is requesting an extension of the contract term with ASU by one hundred twenty (120) days to allow time for production/placement of the pedestal and other features.

RECOMMENDATION:                     Approve an amendment to the agreement with Art & Sculpture Unlimited to extend the term of the contract by an additional one hundred twenty (120) days, to December 8, 2015.
