Title

ENDORSING THE THIRD AMENDMENT TO THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT FOR THE CREATION OF THE BROWARD METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION IN BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Body

BACKGROUND:                                          The Board of the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) met on April 9, 2015, and approved the Third Amendment to the Interlocal Agreement for the Creation of the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization. The MPO Board is asking the current alternate voting member cities of Margate, Coconut Creek, Hallandale Beach, Oakland Park and North Lauderdale to adopt the attached resolution (Third Amendment to Interlocal Agreement for Creation of the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization). Through the Third Amendment, when approved, the alternate voting member cities, including Margate, will become full voting members; and, it will allow the number of voting members to expand to from 19 to 25 members, the maximum allowed under Florida Statute. The remaining 13 alternate voting members (decreased from 18) will continue to hold voting rights when one or more of the voting members are not present. The Amendment will also allow for the addition of one Broward County Commissioner to the MPO Board.
