APPROVING EXTENSION OF THE AGREEMENT WITH J & J TOWING, INC., FOR A PERIOD OF FIVE (5) YEARS, TO PROVIDE TOWING SERVICES FOR THE CITY OF MARGATE AS PER THE SAME TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS THE INITIAL AGREEMENT; EXCEPT AS PROVIDED FOR CLASS "C" STORAGE RATES; PROVIDING FOR A RATE ADJUSTMENT FOR INSIDE AND OUTSIDE STORAGE RATES FOR A CLASS “C” TOW FROM $75.00/HR TO $50.00/HR TO COMPLY WITH BROWARD COUNTY RESOLUTION 2015-051; PROVIDING FOR THE CONTINUATION OF THE ANNUAL SERVICE FEE OF $52,000., PAYABLE TO THE CITY IN TWELVE (12) MONTHLY INSTALLMENTS OF $4,333.33.
BACKGROUND: The City awarded RFP 2010-001 to J&J Towing, Inc., via City Resolution No. 11-756 for a period of five years, with an option to renew for an additional five year term at the same terms and conditions as the initial awarded agreement. J & J Towing, Inc. has agreed to a five year renewal term with the City, at the same terms and conditions as the initial agreement. They have also complied with the requirements of Broward County Resolution No. 2015-051, and decreased the rates for inside and outside storage for Class “C” tows from $75.00 per day to $50.00 per day (refer to letter dated 9/3/15). The annual service fee will continue at $52,000, and shall be payable to the City in twelve (12) monthly installments of $4,333.33.
The Police Department has confirmed that there have been no issues or complaints regarding J & J Towing’s service, or with their compliance to the terms and conditions of the contract.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the option to renew for an additional term of five (5) years.
FISCAL IMPACT: Annual Service Fee of $52,000 payable to the City in 12 monthly payments of $4,333.33
