Title

APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF COCONUT CREEK AND THE CITY OF MARGATE PROVIDING FOR DELIVERY OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL AND FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES (DATED OCTOBER 1, 2010); PROVIDING FOR ONE YEAR EXTENSION.

Body

BACKGROUND:                                           The City of Margate has provided emergency medical and fire protection services to the City of Coconut Creek since December 1, 1999. On November 3, 2010, the City of Margate and the City of Coconut Creek entered into a four-year Interlocal Agreement which was set to expire on September 30, 2014. On September 17, 2014, the City Commission approved a one (1) year extension of the existing Interlocal Agreement (Amendment No. 1), which is set to expire September 30, 2015. A new one (1) year extension of the existing Interlocal Agreement (Amendment No. 2) is proposed for FY 2015-2016.

RECOMMENDATION:                     Approve

FISCAL IMPACT:                     The City of Margate will receive $8,123,500 in revenue to the General Fund from the City of Coconut Creek in FY 2016. This increase of approximately 10% from the amount received in FY 2015 includes covering a portion of the cost of additional staffing for the new Fire Station 50. If Margate receives grant funding for FY 2016 for Fire Rescue personnel, one-half of the amount of the grant proceeds accepted and received by Margate for FY 2016 will be deducted from the above contract amount.
