Title

APPROVING THE REVISION OF THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN OF THE CITY OF MARGATE, APPENDIX B, AMENDING ELEMENT III: PART 1 - POTABLE WATER.

Body

BACKGROUND:                     The Comprehensive Plan Element III: Part 1 - Potable Water is being amended in order to update the 10-year water supply facilities work plan, pursuant to Florida Statute 163.3177.  In 2008, the 10-year water supply facilities work plan evaluated various capital projects and identified a reuse facility at the City’s wastewater treatment plant to meet demand shortfall for potable water.  However, due to subsequent lower demands, the reuse project was put on hold.  Based on the current population projections and the demand analysis for potable water, no demand shortfalls for potable water are anticipated in the immediate 10-year planning period.  As a result, no capital projects are proposed in the attached 2015 update.

After the First Reading, the Potable Water Element including the 10-year water supply facilities work plan was transmitted to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity for review by various State agencies.  The revisions to the data and the language required by review agencies is shown as underlined and strikethrough text in the report.  The review agencies concur with the water demand analysis provided in the report and our recommendation that no capital projects for water supply are required over the next 10-year planning period.
