APPROVAL OF TEMPORARY USE AGREEMENT WITH COKESBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
BACKGROUND: Cokesbury United Methodist Church is requesting the use of CRA property located at 5701 Margate Boulevard (NW corner of Margate Boulevard and State Road 7) to hold a fundraising event on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event will feature a car show, live entertainment and food collection for the benefit of the Cokesbury United Methodist Church Food Bank. There will also be food trucks and vendors. Proceeds from the event will help support the church and its associated food bank.
The Church is requesting that the CRA donate the use of the property for the event. The fee for renting this particular site is $2,000 for up to seven (7) days, with a minimum fee of $1,000. Therefore the cost for the one day rental (ending at 6 p.m.) would be $1,000. The CRA waived the fee for this event last year. Perhaps the CRA should consider a change in the fee structure for 1-day rentals, or establish specific criteria for waiving or reducing fees.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Temporary Use Agreement with Cokesbury United Methodist Church.
FISCAL IMPACT: If fee waiver approved, loss of the $1,000 event fee for one day’s use of the property.
