BACKGROUND:                                           Since February 7, 2007, the City has contracted with Gold Coast Transit, Inc. to supply and maintain bus benches with waste receptacles, bus transit shelters with waste receptacles, and a bench and shelter advertising program on such. The initial agreement, which has been renewed two successive three-year terms, is set to expire March 10, 2016. The City is currently in negotiations with Gold Coast Transit, Inc. to finalize terms of a new agreement.

RECOMMENDATION:                     Approve temporary extension through September 10, 2016, or until a new agreement is awarded; whichever date is first.

FISCAL IMPACT:                     Gold Coast Transit, Inc. continues to pay the City $7,000 per year, or $100 per bench, or 15% of gross advertising revenue from the bus benches, whichever is greater, for the right, privilege, and license to construct, install, and place the bus benches within the City. Gold Coast Transit, Inc. continues to pay the City 15% of gross revenues per year from the bus transit shelters for the right, privilege, and license to construct, install, and place the bus transit shelters within the City.
