Title
A RESOLUTION OF THE MARGATE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, AMENDING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN ART & SCULPTURE UNLIMITED AND THE MARGATE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY FOR MODEL, MOLD AND BRONZE CASTING OF A SCULPTURE OF KAYE STEVENS, INCLUDING PLAQUE DELIVERY AND INSTALLATION OF ALL PIECES AT KAYE STEVENS PARK.
BACKGROUND: At the April 2015 CRA meeting, the Board approved an agreement with Art & Sculpture Unlimited (ASU) to model, mold, and cast in bronze a sculpture of Kaye Stevens, including a bronze plaque and installation, to be placed in Kaye Stevens Park. The agreement established an initial time frame that was subsequently extended until March 7, 2016, to allow for design and construction of a customized pedestal for placement of the statue.
The statue has been bronzed but ASU is waiting on the completion of the pedestal, which is under construction to install the statue and plaque. Since the installation of the statue will not be completed prior to March 7th, an extension of the agreement is requested until April 30, 2016. Although it is anticipated the pedestal, sidewalk and installation of the statue will be completed prior to the end of March, staff is requesting additional time on the agreement in case any issues arise.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve an extension of the terms of contract with ASU until April 30, 2016.
