BACKGROUND: PETITIONER IS REQUESTING A CHANGE OF OCCUPANCY FROM FLORIDA BUILDING CODE-BUSINESS AND MERCANTILE TO FLORIDA BUILDING CODE-EDUCATIONAL TO REMODEL BAYS 5251 THROUGH 5281 TO HOUSE TWO EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES: WEST BROWARD ACADEMY WILL OFFER EDUCATION FOR KINDERGARTEN THROUGH EIGHTH GRADE FOR 640 STUDENTS. THE SCHOOL WILL OCCUPY 53,665 GROSS SQUARE FEET; ASCEND CAREER ACADEMY WILL OFFER EDUCATION FOR GRADES NINE THROUGH TWELVE FOR UP TO 500 STUDENTS, AND WILL OCCUPY 27,000 GROSS SQUARE FEET OF BAYS 5251, 5253, 5256 AND 5259.
