APPROVING WAIVING OF BIDDING FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) TRUCK MOUNTED MOSQUITO SPRAY MACHINE FROM CLARKE MOSQUITO CONTROL PRODUCTS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $13,000 FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT STORMWATER UTILITY DIVISION.
BACKGROUND: The Stormwater Utility Department currently has a Clarke mosquito spray machine that is nine years old, is at the end of its useful life expectancy, and is experiencing frequent maintenance issues. The current machine was slated to be replaced in the upcoming budget year. However, due to the outbreak of the Zika virus, it is requested that the replacement be expedited because the current machine is not reliable.
It is requested to use Clarke Mosquito Control Products as the supplier as all of our inventories of chemicals are Clarke brand products. These chemicals are proprietary only to be used with Clarke machines. In addition, Clarke provides the training, education, and Continuing education Units (CEUs) for our mosquito spray technicians without any additional associated costs.
