Title

A RESOLUTION OF THE MARGATE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, AMENDING THE TASK ORDER WITH KIMLEY-HORN AND ASSOCIATES, INC. FOR THE MELALEUCA DRIVE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT.

Body

BACKGROUND:                     At the CRA meeting of June 2015, the Board approved moving forward with doing improvements to Melaleuca Drive from Atlantic Boulevard to NW 9th Court.  The Melaleuca Drive project will complete the sidewalk network on both sides of the street, provide street lighting where needed (standard FPL light poles), and plant trees and shrubs for beautification purposes.  The amount approved for the scope of services included in the Task Order was $30,870.00

Kimley-Horn completed the preliminary design work which was presented to the CRA Board meeting February 2016.  The board requested that some of the plant materials be modified to include additional flowering trees and shrubs. Subsequently, staff requested revisions to the landscape plans and also asked that the consultants produce some additional conceptual color designs for the property owners in the area and the general public to view.  Since this is considered additional services and was not part of the original approved task order, there will be a fee of $1,235 for the additional conceptual design and artwork.  Staff recommends that the contract amount in the Task Order be increased by adding a ten percent (10%) contingency of $3,087.00, which will bring the total to $33,957.00.

RECOMMENDATION:  Approve the Amendment to the Task Order with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., for the Melaleuca Drive project.

FISCAL IMPACT:  Funding is allocated in 340-0510-512-68 22.
