APPROVING A SUNCOM NETWORK SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT SERVICES DIVISION OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS

BACKGROUND:                                          By registering with SUNCOM, the City will become a registered agency of the State of Florida Department of Management Services. This will allow the City to take advantage of available telecommunication programs and services at significantly discounted State Agreement rates. By registering, the City is not obligated to subscribe to any of these programs or services. Additional benefits of registering and ultimately subscribing to the available programs or services include:

                     Cost savings to customers through volume procurement and competitive bidding

                     Most services have month-to-month term commitments for member agencies

                     Subscription to most services may be terminated with 30 days of notice or less

                     Helping the City adapt to technology changes

                     Specialized technical expertise

                     Fostering technology standards and interoperability

                     24-hour customer service, network monitoring, and problem resolution

                     Strict security measures

                     Contracts with the best SLA (Service Level Agreements) in the industry

 

 

RECOMMENDATION:                     Approve

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:                     There is no fiscal impact associated with this agreement.
