Title
RESOLUTION - AMENDING THE AGREEMENT WITH H & H LIQUID SLUDGE DISPOSAL, INC. FOR SLUDGE DISPOSAL PREVIOUSLY APPROVED UNDER RESOLUTION # 12-368; PROVIDING FOR AN INCREASE TO THE PER LOAD DISPOSAL RATE FOR LIME SLUDGE AS PROVIDED FOR IN ITEM 4.B.3 OF THE AGREEMENT; PROVIDING FOR PRICING TO BE IMMEDIATELY EFFECTIVE UPON APPROVAL.
BACKGROUND: On August 21, 2013, the City Commission approved an agreement with H&H Liquid Sludge Disposal, Inc. (H&H) to provide disposal services for sludge generated from both water and wastewater treatment plants. Until recently, the lime sludge from the water plant was disposed of at a lime sludge pit in Pompano Beach. However, due to recent closure of this disposal site, the sludge will have to be transported to another disposal site located in Hallandale Beach. Due to the increase in distance to the new location, H&H is requesting an increase to the disposal rate for lime sludge from the current rate of $256.00 to $334.00, an increase of $78.00. This request is in accordance with Item 4.B.3 of the existing agreement.
A copy of the letter from H&H requesting the rate increase and the breakdown for the increase is attached. A copy of the existing agreement is also attached for reference.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve
