Title
APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE TASK ORDER FOR KIMLEY-HORN AND ASSOCIATES, INC. FOR PROFESSIONAL CONSULTING SERVICES FOR THE COPANS ROAD MEDIAN IMPROVEMENT PROJECT.
BACKGROUND: In 2014, the Board approved a Task Order with Kimley-Horn and Associates to design median improvements to Copans Road from State Road 7 to Hammocks Boulevard. The plans include irrigation, landscaping and glass aggregate design elements for beautification purposes. The amount approved for the scope of services in the original and amended Task Orders is $47,761.
The existing Task Order includes only minimal hours for construction oversight. Based on recent experience with Coconut Creek Parkway there is a concern that the agreement will fall short of the time needed. At staff’s request Kimley-Horn has submitted an estimate for additional services (lump sum fee of $6,250.00) which includes site visits, review of change orders, shop drawings, final notice of acceptability of work and certification of completion. Therefore the new total for this Task Order will be $54,011.00.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution Amending the Task Order for Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., for construction oversight of the Copans Road Median Improvement project.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funding for the project is allocated in 340-0510-512.68-26.
