Title

APPROVING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MARGATE AND CPZ ARCHITECTS, INC. FOR RFQ 2016-012 ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES; PROVIDING FOR AUTOMATIC RENEWALS

Body

BACKGROUND:

On May 18, 2016, the City Commission approved resolution No. 16-219 authorizing the administration to negotiate a continuing services agreement with CPZ Architects, Inc. as the number one ranked firm for Request for Qualifications (RFQ) 2016-012 - Architectural Services.  Staff contacted CPZ Architects, Inc. and secured the attached proposed rate schedule, which mirrors the hourly rates negotiated and approved in January by the Margate Community Redevelopment Agency (MCRA) for its architectural services contract with CPZ Architects, Inc.

Staff feels that the submitted rates are appropriate, and that awarding a continuing services contract to CPZ Architects, Inc. is in the best interests of the City.  Additionally, staff recommends contracting with this firm, due to the fact that they are currently contracted with the MCRA for the same type of professional services, which will help to ensure the cohesive transition of new architectural design elements between the MCRA and City.

RECOMMENDATION:

APPROVE AGREEMENT WITH CPZ ARCHITECTS, INC.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funded from Fund 334 - Capital Projects

Final construction elements and the RFQ’s negotiated architectural services rates will have a bearing on actual design costs.
