Title

APPROVAL OF AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE REQUIREMENTS OF CHAPTER 35-STREETS, SIDEWALKS AND OTHER PUBLIC PLACES, SECTION 35-14, TO REQUIRE ADDRESSES ON ALL RESIDENTIAL AND NON-RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS BE DISPLAYED IN A CONTRASTING COLOR TO THE SURFACE TO WHICH IT IS AFFIXED.

Body

BACKGROUND:                     The proposed ordinance amends The Code of Ordinances, Chapter 35-Streets, Sidewalks and other Public Places, Section 35-14, Addresses to be displayed. Currently, Code requires an address on the front of all residential buildings in a height of at least four (4) inches and visible from the street or right-of-way.  The proposed ordinance adds verbiage to require the address be displayed in a contrasting color to the surface to which it is affixed.  Additionally, Code currently requires placement of an address on the front and rear door of all non-residential buildings in a height of at least eight (8) inches high and visible from the street or right-of-way.  The proposed ordinance adds verbiage to require the address be displayed in a contrasting color to the surface to which it is affixed.

The proposed ordinance requires that all properties within the City of Margate would have up to and including January 15, 2017 in which to comply with the new requirements. Approved on First Reading at the June 1, 2016, Regular City Commission meeting.
